It was only after the litter was born that we heard from Robert Daws that Paddy had since tested positive as a carrier of CNM. This means that each of the puppies has a 50% chance of being a carrier, but as Summer is tested clear none of them will be affected. Since being a carrier is a clinically normal condition the only implications are that the puppies will need to be tested for CNM before any breeding partner is chosen, or a tested clear partner used. Only if a carrier is used with another carrier or affected dog will affected puppies be produced.

Paddy has some excellent qualities and our three puppies are developing nicely. Whilst it is important that Paddy is not used with any untested or known carrier bitches, those with tested clear bitches should use Paddy with confidence that his progeny will have great potential.
